Condé Nast Traveller is Britain 's most authoritative and inspirational travel magazine.
Together with friends and colleagues in the travel industry, the magazine is aiming to aid relief and the rebuilding of infrastructure in regions of countries hardest hit by the tsunami: Sri Lanka , Indonesia , Thailand , Maldives and India .

Although £2 billion has been raised so far, 2 million people are still without homes and 500,000 are injured. More money is desperately needed but other fundraising efforts are winding down and the media is turning its attention to other news. Oxfam has reported that only half the money raised so far is actually reaching the intended destinations which is why we have decided to send money directly to locally based charities such as:

Adopt Sri Lanka
which is helping to rebuild the fishing fleet with its initiative ‘Fish and Ships'

Rebuilding Sri Lanka

which is helping people to recreate their communities
The British Community Fund for Indonesian Tsunami Relief (BCC) which is working with orphans around Banda Aceh
The Rajaprachanukroh Foundation in Thailand under the Royal Patronage of his Majesty the King, which is taking care of and educating children orphaned by the tsunami
Friends of the Maldives
A locally based charity in the Maldives which is helping Maldivians to rebuild their lives
The South India Federation of Fishermen Society
( www.siffs.org )
This organisation is based in Trivandrum and working very actively with seven other NGOs in South India . Their area of operation is Tamil Nadu as well as Kerala.

Condé Nast Traveller's committee has sent out invitations to all our friends (personal and professional) asking them to support this initiative.

Guest speakers include Michael Palin and Rory Bremner , while best-selling author Ben Schott has conceived and designed a Travel Miscellany table quiz.

Celebrity chefs , Vineet Bhatia , formerly of Zaika and now of award-winning Rasoi Vineet Bhatia; David Thompson of Nahm at the Halkin and Raymond Blanc of the Michelin-starred Manoir aux Quat' Saisons are generously providing a course each.

Champagne and wines are being provided by Laurent-Perrier UK Ltd .

Lord Dalmeny will be conducting an auction of grand prizes and there will also be a silent auction and raffle.

Auction and raffle prizes include :

Luxury resort holidays around the world
Luxury goods ranging from Cartier to Mont Blanc , Dunhill and LVMH
