The diary is an account from Geoffrey Dobbs, founder of AdoptSriLanka and Chairman of The Taprobane Trust (PVT) Limited.
Geoffrey is on the ground every day assisting with immediate relief and commencing the enormous task of rebuilding and rehabilitating villages on the south coast of Sri Lanka.

Geoffrey's brother Michael has started up a blog on the Washington Post website. In the course of the next few weeks you can follow the lives of certain villagers and projects. Please refer to www.washingtonpost.com/weligama

For the next few weeks, volunteers working for adopt sri lanka will be writing the diary

With the imminent arrival of the December 26 anniversary we have been very busy with our yearly audit which KPMG are working on and we hope to provide a full set of accounts by the end of January, (for details of what we have spent to date please click here) We have all but finished many of the projects we started on, our flagship project which was the building of a permanent 104 house village on the outskirts of Merissa has now been painted and we are starting on landscaping, we still have the temple and school to build.

We have finished making smaller boats but our boatyard in Galle continues, this will be one of the projects we will take forward into the new year. We will be completely reorganising our foundation in the new year to meet new demands and challenges, We have learnt much in the last year and I recomend that you read the report recently published by the Prince of Wales International Business leaders Forum (click here for details). This gives a very preicse and accurate summary of lessons to be learnt from this disaster
